Is there a trail or good neighborhood to walk close to the cruise terminal? If not, I have downloaded Kari if you can suggest a good trail OR is basin Beach far?
Hello,
Thank you for reaching out to Ask an Islander. The Port of Charlottetown is located in the waterfront area of our capital city of Charlottetown. It is a beautiful and very walkable city. There is a Visitor Information Centre near the Port in the Founders' Food Hall and Market building. You can stop by there to pick up a map of the city which features three different walks that you could enjoy.
There are three vibrant way-finding trail lines that are painted on sidewalks, designed to effortlessly guide you through the city.
Shops & Services Walk (2.2km)
Heritage Walk (3.4 km)
Waterfront Walk (6.4 km)
There is also access to the Confederation Trail nearby. The access point is at Joseph A. Ghiz Memorial Park which is approximately 1 km from the Port.
Basin Head Beach is approximately 100 km from the Port of Charlottetown and Victoria by the Sea is approximately 50 km away.
For a closer option, Keppoch Road Beach located just outside the city in Stratford is about 7 km away. This would be a less expensive option if you're using Kari.
I hope this helps!
Valerie
