I've read the PEI has a route much like Camino de Santiago around the island and that a person who is wheelchair bound may be about to do it (or at least much of it). Is this accurate? Are there tour groups to carry packs or assist? Thank you$

Hi Chantal,
The route to which you are referring is the very recently-created Island Walk which links several existing trails across PEI to create a 700-km walking trail that loops around the Island.
Although I haven't walked the Camino de Santiago personally, I do have some knowledge about it since friends of mine did a good portion of it several years ago and, even though there may be some similarities between it and the Island Walk (the length of the walks is similar), there are also significant differences, one being the type of terrain you would be hiking (the Island Trail being much flatter in many areas).
I am including a link here to the Island Walk website which has a wealth of information about the walk itself as well as contact information in case you have more questions about the trails.
I hope you get the chance to experience at least a portion of the Island Walk in the near future.
Kind regards,
Judy
