Where is the best seafood platter?

Answer by:

Hi David,

Thank you for reaching out to Ask an Islander. Seafood platters are a fantastic way to enjoy the wide array of seafood we have on the Island prepared in a myriad of ways!

Seacuterie is a big trend in the seafood platter category and I have a few recommendations that will take you to a few different areas of the Island. Seacuterie is like a charcuterie board, but instead of cured land proteins, it is composed of seafood and shellfish that is cured, smoked or brightly acidulated.

Sea Rocket in Charlottetown boasts a pastrami-cured salmon that is one of my favourite bites on the board. It's so flavourful!

The seacuterie board at The Blue Mussel Cafe in Rustico is one of the originators of the seacuterie grazing plates and paired with the waterfront view is arguably magical!

If you happen to be heading east towards Belfast, Point Prim Chowder House is a must visit. In addition to their seafood platter, they have amazing chowder, lobster rolls and steamer pots of assorted shellfish.

If you're interested in more of a golden brown, fried seafood platter, Water Prince Corner Shop includes deep fried scallops along with lobster and mussels. Water Prince is located in Charlottetown, and is an iconic spot for seafood among visitors and locals.

I invite you to download or order our 2024 visitor’s guide. You can always stay in touch by signing up for the Tourism PEI newsletter which includes details on upcoming festivals and events and recipes too!

Have an amazing time eating your way around the Island!
