i’d love to camp on a beach this weekend, are there any beaches that allow camping on them? any with public restrooms/showers?we have a truck that we can sleep inside of and drive onto a beach, or near a beach.
Hello Becca,
I love the idea of waking up on the beach, what a beautiful place to fall asleep and wake up at, but unfortunately you cannot camp on the beach. Vehicles driving on the beach are also not allowed as we have many endangered birds which nest and live on the beach and access areas. The marram grass is very fragile and much of the beach and dune structure is dependent on it surviving. I am sure you can appreciate why Prince Edward Island does not allow beach camping, it's that care we take, which makes it so beautiful.
There are provincial campgrounds on the water or with water views which will satisfy your desire to sleep and wake to a water view, depending on the area you are looking to stay, there are also private and the two campgrounds in the PEI National Park. All of them would have public washrooms and showers.
Enjoy your weekend and the beautiful scenery we have to offer.
