In light of hurricane fiona, have any of the attractions and parks been affected? Is thanksgiving a good time to visit, or was the scenery heavily/considerably damaged and are parks and other attractions open for tourists?
Hello Fi,
As hurricane Fiona passed she certainly caused plenty of damage and destruction but we are getting back to business and cleaning up as fast as we can. The National Park beaches, trails, and scenic drives remain closed. All provincial park day-use beaches, campgrounds and hiking trails including Bonshaw, Strathgartney, Mark Arendz Park, and including the Confederation Trail also remain closed. Many crews are still out working on the roads restoring power and cleaning up so we ask that you be respectful of those directing traffic.
This is a beautiful time of the year to drive the coastal routes as the colours are really starting to change and when the sun rises and sets the colours are amazing against the red, yellow, and orange colours of the leaves. The Anne of Green Gables Heritage Home is as well as the Anne Museum in Parks Corner. Many shops and restaurants are open in several areas and especially in Charlottetown and Summerside. There is lots of entertainment starting and a few fall festivals.
I am sure you will find something to do and see that weekend, maybe even stop in to a local restaurant serving a delicious Thanksgiving dinner.
