where is the best place to get a lobster sandwich/roll in Charlottetown?

Answer by:

Hi Shelby,

If your visit to the Island happens to fall in the middle of the month, we have an entire festival dedicated to shellfish, and is a tradition for us locals to attend each year. You can find loads of oysters, mussels, lobster rolls and chowder to immerse your taste buds in along with live demos, contests and concerts to take in. This is one of the most loved festivals for us Islanders and visitors alike.

Our PEI lobster obviously plays centre stage, but there is so much more to it! Served cold tossed in mayonnaise or warm drenched with butter? It’s a loaded question that can lead to some heated debates in these parts, but at Dave’s Lobster you can have either or. Their Some Fancy roll is PEI lobster warmed in Island butter and lemon and the Local's Roll is a chilled lobster roll tossed with chives, celery and just a touch of mayo. If having to pick just one style is too challenging (which is totally understandable), you can get the half and half. Who says you can't have your cake and eat it too?

Another delicatible lobster sandwich can be found at the Charlottetown Farmers' Market. Gallants makes an incredible lobster grilled cheese sandwich that is made with locally made artisan bread and Island butter and cheese in addition to the lobster. I think this is a must as you can also treat yourself to some freshly shucked oysters at their stall as well. If they are selling their concord grape mignonette, get some!
