We are travelling from Australia to do see all things "Anne" but also enjoy the beauty of the Island. We are going to be there for Canada Day 2026, do you know what is on and where is the best place to be?
Hello Natalie ,
Thank you for your question to Ask an Islander. Wow! Travelling all the way from Australia! We’re delighted to welcome you to our beautiful Island.
While the official schedule for this year’s Canada Day celebrations hasn’t been released yet, there are several annual events across the Island that you can plan to attend. Canada Day is celebrated throughout Prince Edward Island, and here are a few highlights you’re likely to enjoy:
- In Charlottetown, the day typically begins with a 21-gun salute at Victoria Park at noon, followed by live music, family-friendly activities, and a spectacular fireworks display in the evening.
- In Souris, festivities usually kick off with a flag raising at noon and cake, followed by a full day of activities at CN Park, including live entertainment, a BBQ, a boat parade of lights, and fireworks at 10:00 p.m.
- North Rustico celebrates at Seawalk Park with events running from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. The day includes a street parade starting at 10:30 a.m., live entertainment beginning at noon, vendors, children’s activities, and fireworks to close out the celebrations.
You can always stay in touch by signing up for the Tourism PEI newsletter, which includes details on upcoming festivals and events and recipes too! Our June issue will feature Canada Day events across the province. You can also download or order our 2026 visitor’s guide now.
No matter where you choose to celebrate, there’s something for everyone. I hope you enjoy your time on the Island and the chance to celebrate Canada Day!
Kindly,
Jennifer
