We are visiting from Montreal, Quebec and would like to know when the horse racing begins? Also, from where do we would watch the Gold Cup Parade?

Good morning Eleni;
Thank you for reaching out to Ask an Islander about all things Old Home Week. Racing is underway at Red Shores Racetrack & Casino at Charlottetown Driving Park. There are race cards tonight and Friday at 6:00 PM and a double header on Saturday with a race at noon and 6 PM. Then, at two minutes to midnight, the famous call to the post is heard and the horses and drivers get ready to compete in one of the best shows in racing: the 66th running of the Gold Cup & Saucer race. Is truly is an exciting place to be.

You can watch the Gold Cup Parade from anywhere along the parade route. Please be aware that North River Rd closes at 6:00 AM tomorrow and streets of the route close at 8:00 AM. Personally, I like to park at Murphy's Pharmacy on Queen Street. From there, walk down to Euston Street for a good viewing point. If you want shade, you may want to walk up Brighton Road, closer to North River Road. The parade starts at 10 AM. Be sure to get your spot early. I hope you get a good spot to enjoy the parade to its fullest.
Thank you for choosing to visit Prince Edward Island.
