We fly into Halifax Sunday, first night in Truro, then head to PEI via the bridge on Monday. Concerned re:wildfires in Nova Scotia and New Brunswick affecting our drive. Should we make alternate plans? We will be in PEI for 9 days. Is smoke a concern?

Hello Louise,
Thank you for reaching out to Ask an Islander. So far, the wildfires haven't been affecting travel from Halifax to PEI. Today, we were able to smell some smoke from the fires burning in Nova Scotia and New Brunswick, but it seems to have subsided now. The winds must have been pushing it this way this morning.
You can keep an eye on the 511 road conditions websites for each province to see if there are any road closures to worry about by Monday. Here is a link to the Wildfire Smoke Forecast Map as well. We are all hoping for a nice, steady rainfall soon. Fingers crossed!
Prince Edward Island is currently under a complete fire ban, and luckily, we don't have any uncontained fires burning.
Take care,
Valerie
