We have a midnight arrival with a rental car pickup. Our accommodations are about 30 miles from the airport. Should we be okay making that drive at night or plan to book a hotel near the airport for one night?

Hello, Michelle,
Thank you for your question to Ask an Islander!
When you arrive at midnight, there will likely be reduced visibility, and your tiredness may impact your ability to drive safely. Besides that, you should be fine driving at night for 30 miles toward your accommodations at night. I suggest doing what feels safest for you and what is right in the moment! However, the Island is a very safe province, and driving at night for 30 miles won't present many challenges for you.
If you end up wanting to find accommodations near the airport to avoid a late-night drive, I suggest the following locations: The Sherwood Motel, Fair Isle Motel, and Canada's Best Value Inn & Suites.
I hope you enjoy your time on the Island! Please stay safe and reach out if you ever need to!
All the best,
Bret MacCaull
