Where are the best historic roads to drive on in Queens County?

Good morning;

Thank you for reaching out to Ask an Islander about scenic heritage roads in Queens County. Personally, my favourite is the Princetown-Warburton Road in Fredericton because this is where my family origins lie. It reminds me of going to the back fields of the farm as a child with my uncle to pick rocks or with my parents to cut wood. In the fall, there is a lovely apple orchard near the Millvale end.

Although not a designated heritage road, another favourite in this area is Route #240 from South Granville to Millvale. The old South Granville Presbyterian Church on Route 230 was the site of "Emily of New Moon" filming in the 1990s.

From the Junction Road in Hartsville (Rt 227), you can follow a short trail to the highest point of the Island - the Springton Peak. (see Google Map at Scenic Heritage Roads).

One last recommendation is the Appin Road from South Melville to Green Bay and the McKenna Appin Road.

I'm not sure when you are travelling to Prince Edward Island. Should it be late September to October, you are in for a spectacular display of fall colours.

Thank you for choosing to visit our province.
