Where can I buy gluten free bread near Cavendish and Charlottetown? Do you have suggestions for restaurants that can accommodate gluten free diet?

Good morning Celine:
Thanks so much for reaching out to Ask an Islander. First off, I’d like to give you some assurance - there are tons of gluten-free options on PEI and a good number of restaurants, if not most, can accommodate gluten-free requests to some degree. I’ve heard from plenty of travellers about how impressed they are with the options here.
- For bread, one of the more popular options is Mary’s Bakery at 4 Meadowbank Rd in Cornwall - tons of gluten free options there and just a short distance outside of Charlottetown.
- The PEI Preserve Company in New Glasgow is well-known for their gluten-free options.
- Samuel’s Coffee in Avonlea Village in Cavendish has some gluten-free options for their snack menu.
- Leonhard’s Cafe in Charlottetown also has bread and other goods that are gluten-free.
A hidden gem along the north shore is - Red Island Hospitality’s Food Truck at the Stanhope Golf Course. Here, you'll find a menu that is almost entirely gluten-free with lots of options with a picturesque view of the Brackley Bay. John Brown’s Grill in Charlottetown has a similar menu.
Brit’s Fish & Chips in Charlottetown also offers up gluten-free options for their wonderful fish.
I’d also have to recommend any number of our Lebanese locations across the Island. Lots of naturally gluten-free items to choose from. Cedar’s Eatery in Charlottetown is a favourite!
Hope that helps. Enjoy your time in Prince Edward Island.
Thanks,
Al
