Best seafood restaurants on PEI?

Hi Michael;
Thank you for your inquiry to Ask an Islander.
One of my favourite spots to enjoy seafood is on the eastern end of the Island, Point Prim Chowder House. The seafood platter and the steamer pot are my personal favourites! Be sure to make a reservation ahead of time, as this spot right on the water books up quickly. This is my go-to spot to experience the ruggedly beautiful parts of PEI while eating some of the most delicious seafood.
There are certainly options for the non-seafood lovers in the group, but their finnan haddie, mussels and oysters are truly something special. Rustic charm, with a show stopping water view makes for a perfect stop on a lazy day sightseeing adventure. It is a seasonal location that locals in the know anxiously await. The spot fills up quickly especially on sunny days, so be sure to plan your meal accordingly.
One of the most beloved seafood joints on the Island is Richard's Fresh Seafood at Covehead Harbour. Locals pine for their fish and chips all winter long. Once June 1st hits, we head out in droves to get our fix. The wait is well worth it, and while you wait, the view of the harbour is whimsical and enchanting.
The Cascumpec Bay Oyster Company is another great place to visit. Ask for Martin O'Brien - he's a great guy who can share some great stories with you, as well as hook you up with one of the best oysters around. Also, check out the oyster farm in Bideford. Finally, Jeff Noye is a Guinness Book of Records title holder for his oyster shucking prowess. His restaurant, Valley Pearl Oysters, is awesome and interactive.
Have a great vacation!
