We will arrive at PEI from Aug 31 to Sep 2 and kids want to do some clams digging (minimum 2 inches). Plan to go to Tea Hill & Beach. Just wondering if there is anything else we can catch without a license while over there. Thanks for the help!

Hi Randal,

Thank you for reaching out! You are heading to a great spot for clam digging. Tea Hill is very popular for that. You are probably looking for the soft shell clams, some people also dig for bar clams, quahogs and razor fish.

Whatever you are digging, there is a limit to what you can take, no more than 100 clams (total of any species). Feel free to visit the Department of Fisheries and Oceans  website for the 'what do I need to know before I harvest shellfish' page to familiarize yourself with the rules and regulations.

You can also fish for mackerel and striped bass without a license, as long as you are in tidal waters and follow the regulations for that recreational fishery.

Have fun!
