Good place's near ship port to hunt for seaglass

Answer by:

Hello Joyce,

Thank you for your question to Ask an Islander.

If you are coming into the harbour to the Port of Charlottetown, I would suggest walking the boardwalk along the water around Charlottetown. When you get to Victoria Park, hopefully the tide will be out, and there are some spots along here. You do need to have good foot wear on as it can be mucky and there is also a large mussel shoal which is very sharp for walking on. I would recommend going closer to the Brighton lighthouse to explore for the seaglass. It would not be the first place I would suggest, but it is the closest to the Port of Charlottetown.

If you have a vehicle and can travel, Tea Hill is a close adventure and a much better opportunity for seaglass hunting. I would also recommend Rocky Point, Souris and Argyle Shore as favourite spots to seaglass hunt.

I hope you find a lovely piece or two!
