Have 10 hrs and a car rental- what can I do east coastal or north coastal?
G’day Wanda!
With 10 hours and a rental car, you can have a really beautiful PEI day, exploring the eastern part of the Island or the north shore.
If you’re heading east, I’d start by making your way toward Montague and Georgetown. Montague has a lovely waterfront area to stretch your legs, grab a coffee, a local craft brew or a bite, and take in that small-town Island feel. Georgetown is also worth a stop, with beautiful heritage buildings, water views, seasonal restaurants and a nice, quiet charm.
If you want more of an outdoor adventure, I’d highly recommend making your way to Greenwich in the PEI National Park. It’s one of the most beautiful spots on the Island, with walking trails, boardwalks, huge sand dunes, and a stunning beach. It’s the kind of place that feels peaceful no matter what season you visit.
For the north shore, you could explore the Cavendish area, stop by Green Gables Heritage Place, take a drive along the coast, and visit one of the nearby beaches. Even if it’s not swimming weather, the views are still worth it.
Depending on your pace, I’d pick either an eastern PEI route or a north shore route rather than trying to do too much. PEI looks small on a map, but the best days usually happen when you leave time to stop, wander, and enjoy the views.
For current seasonal updates, I’d recommend checking Tourism PEI, Points East Coastal Drive, Central Coastal Drive, and Cavendish Beach social media pages before you head out. They’re great places to find open restaurants, attractions, and local events.
Happy exploring!
