Hi there. My friends are and I are from Ontario and will be NPI tomorrow. Is there a place that we can fish from shore? What is the best place we can fish from shore? And do we need a license to fish from shore?

Thank you for reaching out! It's not really great fishing weather today, but if you're still up for it you can fish from shore or in tidal waters for striped bass or mackerel.

Fishing off the beach seems to be more popular for bass and off the wharves for mackerel. Please check with the local wharf authority for permission to fish off the wharf and only park in designated areas.

You do not need a license to fish in tidal waters but there are rules and regulations to follow. The Department of Fisheries and Oceans manage the salt water recreational fishery and I would advise that you check out their website for limits, size, hooks, etc. You can find information on bass fishing here, and mackerel here.
