I am single and want to visit PEI maybe in the summertime. I dont want to travel alone. Any suggestions. I want to see Green Gables and am interested in seeing wildlife and eating the local food. Any other suggestions would be appreciated

Hello Lisa,

Thank you for your message to Ask an Islander.

When you travel on Prince Edward Island, you are never alone. There are some wonderful and unique ways to travel with others.

Start with where you would like to stay. I find staying at the University or College gives you more options to people who may have room for one more or are more central in the urban area for travelling. Also, some of the smaller Bed and Breakfasts may have some options.

On Prince Edward Island we have a rural transit and for $2 you can travel to Cavendish and spend the day at the beach, although the distance between attraction may be too much to walk. You can also take the transit and travel to different areas of the island. There are lots of wonderful tours you can take and when speaking with them, ask if they have a group you can join.

There are many wonderful social media pages to join and it is not uncommon to see people asking if there is anyone available to meet to do activities with. Just be social/safety aware, although the island is a very safe place to travel, the momma bear in me always worries!

Keep an eye of the Festival & Events list for activities. I love joining a group on the Confederation Trail for a walk. There are deep-sea trips, harbour cruises and walking tours around Charlottetown.

Enjoy your adventure,

Erin Davis
