Hello Marsha,

Thank you for your message to Ask an Islander.

I am so very sorry for the delay in responding. I hope you had a magical morning waking to an even more magical sunrise.

There is no place wrong for a sunrise on Prince Edward Island. Growing up on the Island, I swore sitting on the Panmure Island Beach was the closest to heaven I could get. Then I sat on the beaches of the Greenwich National Park and watched a pod of whales slowing swim by, chasing the endless amount of fish in the almost bluish-purple shade of water. The soft red-orange sun, rising to the gold fingers of light touching the sky, pushing the night sky away. I still remember the stars still in the sky, as the sun slowly started to rise. I swear to this day, it stopped for a good minute, just to let me take it all in! I also loved sitting at East Point lighthouse, waiting for the sun to rise. I planned on having the most amazing picture of a lighthouse and the sunrise. I sat, I waited, I was eaten alive by the mosquitos! Just as the sun was about to appear, a sudden gust and the skies opened up and there were lightning strikes and the most amazing clouds. I forgot about the itchy bites and the fact I missed the sunrise, it was absolutely beautiful. As quick as that flash of lightning hit, it was gone and replaced with the blue skies of a lovely morning, the sun was already up and shining, teasing me!!

I promise, an early morning sunrise or an evening sunset is never seen from a bad location on Prince Edward Island.

Do not forget to look up in the skies in the upcoming days as there is a meteor shower coming.

Enjoy,

Erin Davis
