I will be staying in PEI the first week of October. Is there much activity during this shoulder period? Will some establishments be extending business due to the late start of the season? Thanks,Tom

Hi Tom,

Octobers in PEI are the best! Things do slow down a bit after the summer. The seasonal tourist-type businesses do start closing up after Labour Day but there is still a lot to see and do.

With fall foliage comes time to savour the harvest of Canada’s Food Island. The Fall Flavours festival will be going on until October 10th. Tickets go fast so I would suggest booking soon if you are interested in any of the events.

You can still find a ceilidh too. The Ceilidh at the Irish Hall happens on Fridays well into October in Charlottetown.

A Historic Downtown Ghost Walk seems quite fitting for October! Led by a mysterious gravedigger, this spooky stroll is full of tales about Charlottetown’s historic downtown and its dark, mysterious, sometimes haunted past.

A walk on the beach, a leisurely drive down a red dirt Heritage road, a longer drive around one or more of the coastal drives to see the fall foliage, these things never close.

Are you a golfer? With 25 amazing courses, over 400 fairways across the Island and with many open until late October you’re sure to find a tee time to suit you.

I don’t think you will have any trouble filling your time here. If you have any other questions while you are here you can stop in at a Visitor Information Centre in Charlottetown, Borden or Wood Islands for up-to-date information on what is going on while you are here!

Have a great time!

Valerie
