Is it safe to bike on Route 6?

Hi Amy!

I am sorry for the late reply, we were experiencing technical difficulties and we are just getting to see your message now.

Cycling route 6, it's a tough question! I think for an experienced cyclist it would be ok. Please note that much of that road does not have a paved shoulder and caution should be used in these areas. Route 6 is a secondary road so the speed limit is 80 km/hour.

There are some sections of of Route 6 that are more bike friendly. The Cavendish section is very popular for cycling and also the Gulf Shore Parkway, just off of route 6 in the PEI National Park is a lovely stretch for cycling.

Helmets are also, mandatory while cycling on Prince Edward Island.

I hope this helps,

Valerie
