Just at Maximeville where we’ve dug for steamer clams in past. Area is now closed. Any advice where to go instead?

Thank you for your question to Ask an Islander.

I know a few areas in the North Cape Coastal Drive are presently closed. I had success recently at Argyle Shore, Canoe Cove and Rice Point area. We went to the Chelton Beach area another day and missed the tides. Those there had a pretty good day of digging.

If you are heading East, I have always loved the bay side of Panmure Island and the river along Lower Montague.

Watch for signage and happy clamming to you!
