Looking to visit PEI in September 2025.Is September a good time to visit? Are things (especially restaurants) still open during the week? Is the Arts center still open with live acts?

Answer by:

Hello Don,

Thank you for your question to Ask an islander.

I love traveling in September. Prince Edward Island is just starting to pop with colour. The leaves, depending on the weather, are slowly starting to find their red, orange and golds. If you are a walker, the trails are wonderful with the furry critters running with their treasures to bury for winter. The snowshoe hares are just starting to change colour, the squirrels, chipmunks and small birds are keeping you entertained on your walks. A great time to be looking for fungi!

If you are a beach soul, the beaches are quiet, relaxing and a wonderful journey as you stroll searching for sea glass and those amazing sunrise and sunsets. Grab a great book and a comfy chair and learn how reading a novel on the beach can make you appreciate the story, that much more!

We have over 300 restaurants on the Island, you will not go hungry! Check out our PEI International Shellfish Festival, Fall Flavours and so many wonderful culinary events. Fall lobster season is on in September!

Music, arts, entertainment a plenty in September. You can attend a ceilidh, the Confederation Centre, Trailside and one of the many festivals in the area.

Come and enjoy!
