My husband and I plan to visit PEI in mid August or early September. We love to boondock camping while traveling. Can you recommend some good places to park our truck camper overnight? Thanks. [email protected]
Hello Renee,
Thank you for your question to Ask an Islander!
I'm so glad you are interested in our beautiful province! This is a bit of a tough question. Unfortunately, boondocking is not a common practice on the Island because it's not entirely legal. The Island is a small province, and there is a lot of private property on our beautiful Island, making boondocking challenging. I'm sure there are some people who boondock here and there, but I would advise this is at your own risk! It's just hard in a small rural area to determine what is private property and where someone may accidentally be trespassing.
Many of our campgrounds are fantastic, and some of them have cheaper rates than others. For a complete, comprehensive guide to campgrounds on the Island, I suggest consulting our Interactive Accommodations Guide. Unserviced lots at the provincial campgrounds are incredibly affordable, starting around $25.00 CAD.
If you have any further questions, please reach out!
Kind regards,
Bret MacCaull
