Can you suggest paved biking trails along the new Island Walk?

Hi Shelley,

Thank you for your interest in The Island Walk. I am glad to hear from you!

To answer your question, paved biking trails that are separated from vehicle traffic along the Island Walk are limited to two areas, as follows:

  • From Charlottetown, there is a paved active transportation route for bikers and walkers that runs from Maypoint Road roundabout across the North River Causeway to Cornwall; and
  • from North Rustico to Cavendish, enjoy a paved trail along the Gulf Shore Way through the PEI National Park.

Other sections of the Walk are a mix of public paved and red clay roads as well as well-kept trails. Grades are no greater than 2%.

I hope this information helps with your planning. I invite you to browse other Road Cycling Itineraries.

Regards,

Ruth
