How long is the Confederation Bridge and is it always very windy and scary to drive on it?
Hello Tonu,
Thank you for your question to Ask an Islander.
I am scared of heights, so I can understand your question about the bridge being scary. The Confederation bridge is 12.9 km long. The bridge has sides on it, so it doesn't feel as scary as some may think. Keep looking forward or in the distance and it isn't as bad as one imagines it. I travel it often now, and never worry about crossing.
As for the winds, it is windy, but the winds speeds depend on the weather. Today there is barely a breeze, only 8 km with gusts to 14 km. You can see the wind speeds on the bridge on their website, it is updated every 6 minutes.
Come and enjoy the drive,
Erin Davis
