We are coming mid August and would like to go whale watching. Can you recommend a tour for us?

Hello Janice,

Thank you for reaching out to Ask an Islander! I am happy to hear that you're coming to visit us.

Prince Edward Island has a variety of small whales that swim in the waters surrounding our province - minke and pilot whales, along with dolphins and porpoises, to name a few. For a chance to see some of these elusive creatures, I suggest the PEI Whales and Seals Tour with Captain Jeff McNeill out of North Lake Harbour. There is no guarantee that you will see a whale, but I can guarantee that Captain Jeff will try his best to find some for you.

Many other operators offer deep-sea and tuna fishing charters, where you might have a chance to see whales while onboard. Yet, Jeff MacNeill seems to be the only one with a specific excursion for whales.

Have fun!

Valerie
