We are coming October 7-11, 2024 to Charlottetown. Are most attractions and events closed by then?We would love to explore lighthouses, lobster, beaches and music .

Hello Ali,
Thank you for reaching out to Ask an Islander! I am happy to hear that you're planning a visit in October. October is a wonderful time to visit Prince Edward Island. The weather is still nice, the evenings cool down quite a bit. Traffic is a bit slower and the fall colours begin to show.
The Fall Flavours Food & Drink Festival will be having events up until October 12th. A two-week celebration of the fall harvest on Canada's Food Island. Sample and celebrate PEI lobster, oysters, mussels, beef, potatoes, and more at this premier culinary festival. Tickets can go quickly so if something catches your eye, I would suggest buying tickets in advance.
New Glasgow Lobster Suppers, Lobster on the Wharf, and Water Prince Corner Shop will all be open if you're looking for a traditional lobster dinner.
Lighthouses! Prince Edward Island has seven lighthouses that you can visit and tour and some of them will still be open in October. Souris Historic Lighthouse is open until October 11th. Point Prim Lighthouse, PEI's oldest lighthouse is open until October 31st. Panmure Island Lighthouse and Gift Shop will be open until October 15th. You will still be able to get close to the others, they are still worth a visit even if they are closed. These four mentioned are all within an hour's drive from Charlottetown.
Our beaches never really close. Most if not all will still be accessible when you are here. Some of the beach facilities might be closed, but October walks on the beach are the best! The Prince Edward Island National Park isn't too far from Charlottetown, and Tea Hill Beach is another nice one just outside of town in Stratford.
There will still be plenty of opportunities to experience some live music too. Acoustic Evenings at Gahan House, Live Music at Olde Dublin Pub in Charlottetown, and Live Music Tuesdays at Evermoore Brewing Co. in Summerside just to name a few. Anne & Gilbert, the Musical is on stage until the 15th.
Speaking of Anne, Green Gables Heritage Place and Green Gables Museum will both be open while you're here. These attractions are within an hour's drive of Charlottetown.
See you in October!
