We are coming to PEI on the 20th of October and leaving on the 5th of November. We would love to visit the East coast. My son lives in Summerside and said that most things will be closed by then. Do you have any recommendations?

Hi Jane,
Thank you for reaching out! October is a beautiful time to visit Prince Edward Island. The weather can still be quite nice and the fall foliage should be on full display! When you say the east coast, I am guessing that you mean the Points East Coastal Drive region. Your son is kind of right, a lot of the more seasonal businesses will be closed by that time but there is still a lot to see and do.
You will find a lot of restaurants in the region will have limited hours but many are open year-round. Check out Clamdiggers in Cardigan, Fortune Diner, 21 Breakwater and Strait Goods in Souris.
Fortune Bridge Farms & Tobys Farm Market will still be open in late October, check out their amazing corn maze! Visit Shoreline Design and Kings Playhouse in Georgetown. Belfast Mini Mills in Melville will be open, stop into their mill shop to see their vibrant cozy yarns and knitted goods!
Check out some local breweries, wineries and distilleries.
You could do a self-guided lighthouse tour, most will be closed by then but they are still majestic to see from the outside. There are still many days in October when a walk on the beach is still feasible. Enjoy one or many of the 50 phenomenal beaches with not another soul in sight! Take a drive down a scenic Heritage Road, the fall canopy should be breathtaking by then!
I hope this helps!

Asked: I will be visiting Souris in early July 2024. I would love to take in a traditional lobster boil ( if that’s the correct wording , with the potatoes and corn and sea food ). Is there a local area known for offering this?
