Tourism PEI

We plan to visit PEI for a week from Vancouver, BC. If we rent a car and stay in one hotel, will we have enough time to explore the island, or, is it better to dedicate an amount of time per city and change hotels?

Hello Adelle,

Thank you for your question to Ask an Islander.

As Prince Edward Island is our country's smallest province, one can easily travel anywhere on the Island within a few hours or less. Some people prefer to stay in one centrally located accommodation and venture out on day trips to explore the rest of the province. Others prefer to spend their time exploring one area for a few days and then experiencing a second accommodation while touring the rest of our Island. It is an entirely personal choice.

In my personal opinion, the second option allows you to experience the Island way of life better. However, you will still have time to explore PEI if you opt for staying in one location for the duration of your stay. It is always recommended to take your time and enjoy a smaller area than to rush and miss the experience!

Please enjoy your visit,

Lisa Campbell
