Hello from PEI!

Thank you for reaching out, I am so glad to hear that you are coming to visit in August.

You certainly can swim in August. We like to say that no matter where you are in PEI you are never more than 10 minutes away from a beach. Our south shore beaches tend to be calmer and warmer but our north shore beaches are amazing too. The water can be a little cooler and rougher on the north shore, always check surf conditions when heading to the north shore.

Swimming in the ocean is very different from swimming in a pool or lake. The strength and force of even small ocean waves can surprise beachgoers who are unfamiliar with the power of the sea. It is always a good idea to check the weather and have a look at our beach safety tips before heading into the water.

See you soon!
