We will be visiting PEI from July 21 - 29, staying in the Breadalbane area. We would love to take in some authentic island music ? and markets, would you please recommend places to go for both. Thank youLaura

Good morning Laura;
Thank you for reaching out to Ask an Islander. Late July is a lovely time to visit PEI and Breadalbane is a great central location for travel. I am going to suggest you start your visit with Back Home Tonight - a show that plays on Monday evenings all summer at the Stanley Bridge Hall in Stanley Bridge. The show is a lively, fun night featuring three top performers on various instruments. Of course there is a fiddle! It starts at 7:30 and is family friendly. Search our full list of ceilidhs for this performance and many others.

In and around the small village of Breadalbane, enjoy the Breadalbane Nature Trail, art exhibit at the library, Barnone Brewery and Rose Valley Disc Golf.
If the weather is good, there are live performers twice daily at Peakes Wharf and at Founders' Hall in Charlottetown. Check our festivals and events calendar to find out what is happening during your vacation. A local monthly newspaper, The Buzz, is also a good resource and is free. Pick up a copy at a Visitor Information Centre.
In July, Farmer's Markets pop up everywhere! The biggest is the Charlottetown Market which is held on Saturdays and Wednesdays from 9 to 2. Find fresh produce and baking, honey, eggs, coffee, artisan goods and treats to eat while there. Another great market is held on Saturday mornings in Summerside. For more, visit Local Markets & Food Product Outlets.

I hope this helps make you Island vacation dreams come to life. Enjoy some fine music, fresh food and some down time walking along the shore.
All the best!
Charlene

Asked: I will be visiting Souris in early July 2024. I would love to take in a traditional lobster boil ( if that’s the correct wording , with the potatoes and corn and sea food ). Is there a local area known for offering this?
