We’d like to visit PEI in the first 2 weeks of October. I’ve noticed that a lot of the provincial parks close in late September. Are they entirely closed or just closed to camping? Is there a way to still visit and hike/walk the beaches?

Hi Danielle,

Thank you for reaching out. October is such a lovely time to visit Prince Edward Island. You're right, the Provincial Parks begin shutting down in September for camping. Some day parks will still be accessible, like Basin Head which is open into the first week of October. Some locations may have gates closed limiting access to the beach but there are many other island beaches that you will be able to explore!

The beaches of the Prince Edward Island National Park will still be accessible when you are here. There will not be any surf guards on duty but you will still be able to walk the gorgeous beaches. The trails at the Prince Edward Island National Park at Greenwich will be open until October 16th.

See you soon!
