What are some hidden gems, quirky places, beautiful things to see while travelling PEI in the first week of June?
Good afternoon Sherry;
Thank you for reaching out to Ask an Islander for some recommendations on hidden gems during your visit in June. What an incredible time of year to visit. It's been said that Prince Edward Island is the most beautiful place in the world in June due to vast shades of green you'll see in the countryside as your tour around.
Along the North Cape Coastal Drive, play with Beach Goats, travel back in time with a visit to MacAusland Woolen Mill and take your picture with a giant potato at the Canadian Potato Museum.
Take in the beauty with a drive along the north shore (Route #6) with a stop in North Rustico, one of my favourite places to visit. I would highly recommend taking a spooning lesson with PEI's Spoon Guy, Brendon Peters in his family's historic fishing shack. From there, be sure to visit the PEI National Park. Grab a coffee at Frothy and dinner at Blue Mussel Cafe (moving to a new location nearby in 2026). Be sure to take in a show at Harmony House in Hunter River. One of their new shows, Inside The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald, has received rave reviews for its short run in 2025. It's defintely on my 2026 summer bucket list. The talent is jaw dropping!
Canoe Cove Beach on the south side is another hidden gem, especially at low tide, near the date of the full moon. You can walk for miles. For a treat, stop at Mary's Bake Shop in Cornwall for the best cinnamon rolls ever and at such a great price. Nearby, visit Victoria-by-the-Sea to stroll the quaint village and visit the beautiful shops.
In the east, Nellie's Landing in Murray Harbour is quirky place with amazing hosts who offer accommodations in floating wine barrels or a house boat. You can get a snack and a drink at their bar on the marina, rent e-bikes or book a tour for a beautiful ride along the nearby Confederation Trail.
I also want to point out a couple of blog articles that I wrote which provide a number of other great options for hidden gems and beautiful things to see:
