What are the best trails to bike with our e-bikes in the New London area?

Good morning Frank;

Thank you for your inquiry to Ask an Islander.

My recommendation is explore the PEI National Park from Cavendish to Rustico by e-bike along the Gulf Shore Way. Entrance fees apply at the park beginning Victoria Day weekend in May.

In the New London area, you can bike along Route 20, however, paved shoulders are scattered and traffic can be heavy depending on the time of the year. I would advise you to take notice of the route when travelling by car first.

Paddle Board, New London Bay, ocean, hills

Another option is to cycle along the Confederation Trail built on the decommissioned rail line, that runs tip-to-trip across the province. From New London, the drive is short to Emerald or Kensington to begin your journey on bicycle. Grab a snack or lunch at C&B Corner Cafe in K'town (pictured below)

Find more information about cycling on our website. Please know that wearing a bicycle helmet is mandatory in Prince Edward Island.

I invite you to download or order our 2023 visitor’s guide. You can always stay in touch by signing up for the Tourism PEI newsletter which includes details on upcoming festivals and events and recipes too!

Havea wonderful summer vacation!

Cheerio!

Ruth
