what are the local drinks
Hello Ella,
Thank you for your question to Ask an Islander.
We have several craft breweries & wineries on the Island. All are enjoyable and usually great entertainment to be had. You asked "What are the local drinks?" and I must admit, I am enjoying a fall PEI Seasonal Sangria. I used cubed apples, blueberries, plums, pear and cranberries as they are still in season here. I have to admit, I am pretty excited for this weekend, as we are going to an apple orchard to get apple cider. You better believe I will be making an Apple Cider Sangaria!
1 cup apple cider
1 750ml bottle dry white wine, Newman Estate Seyval Blanc or L'Acadie Blanc
¼ cup freshly squeezed orange juice
¼ cup brandy, Deep Roots Apple Brandy
Sparkling water to top
1 cup apples slices
¼ cup pomegranate seeds
Put fruit in a pitcher that can hold at least six quarts. Add apple cider, wine, juice and brandy and refrigerate until well chilled. When ready to serve, give it a good stir and then pour in sparkling water. Alternatively, you can pour the chilled mixture into glasses and top each with sparkling water.
Oh my, what a great question you asked!
Enjoy!
