What are the must see lighthouses on PEI??Are these all able to be reached by car??Are there some we should avoid??

Hi Brenda,
Thank you for reaching out to Ask and Islander. Prince Edward Island has eight, easy-to-find lighthouses open as community museums that are all a must-see for sure! You can find a list of those here. I've been to each of these and they are all worth a visit.
The Souris Historic Lighthouse is I believe the only one where if you climb to the top, you can go outside and walk on the balcony. East Point Lighthouse is known as Canada's Confederation Lighthouse, built in 1867. Stunning! West Point is a favourite too and Wood Islands. I could go on and on, you'll have to visit them all.
Some others to note that you can get to but can't go inside are; Blockhouse Point Lighthouse from here you can see a beautiful view of Charlottetown across the water. It is at the end of a long dirt road so be cautious in wet weather.
North Cape Lighthouse, on the northwestern tip of the island. Naufrage Lighthouse and St. Peter's are often photographed and worth a visit.
The Prince Edward Island Lighthouse Society has a wonderful website listing all of the lighthouses and it also has a list of private ones that you should probably only view from a distance. Besides these, I can't think of any that you should avoid. Just be careful on the dirt roads if it's wet and muddy!
Have fun!

Asked: I will be visiting Souris in early July 2024. I would love to take in a traditional lobster boil ( if that’s the correct wording , with the potatoes and corn and sea food ). Is there a local area known for offering this?
