What area on PEI have wineries and the best restaurants? Thank you. We plan on visiting in fall of 2024. My grandmother’s family (Perry) lived there for many years.Jane LeuTemecula, California

Hi Jane,

Thank you for reaching out to Ask an Islander. We are so glad to hear that you are coming to visit. There are many Perry families still up west (North Cape Coastal Drive) and scattered all across Prince Edward Island!

Prince Edward Island has four wineries and they are all located relatively close to each other although in different regions of PEI.

Rossignol Estate Winery and Newman Estate Winery and both located in the Points East Coastal Drive region. Matos Winery and Distillery and Island Honey Wine Company are both in the Central Coastal Drive region.

Prince Edward Island also has many breweries, cideries, distilleries, and meaderies spread out all across the Island and amazing restaurants as well!

If you're in the east and want to experience one of the world's best culinary experiences, check out The Fireworks Feast at the Inn at Bay Fortune. You'll want to book this one well in advance. The Wheelhouse in Georgetown is a destination restaurant featuring local seafood and produce.

While in the central region, Victoria by the Sea has some quaint seaside restaurants, or visit the north shore and maybe take in a traditional lobster supper at Fisherman's Wharf in Rustico or New Glasgow Lobster Suppers who have been serving up delicious lobster with all the fixings since 1958.

While in the North Cape Coastal region, for traditional Acadian delights stop in to the Village Musical Acadien! If oysters interest you, then Tyne Valley is the place to be. Visit Valley Pearl Oysters for a relaxed laid back atmosphere.

See you soon!

Asked: I will be visiting Souris in early July 2024. I would love to take in a traditional lobster boil ( if that’s the correct wording , with the potatoes and corn and sea food ). Is there a local area known for offering this?
