What is the best restaurant for seafood in and around Charlottown?

Answer by:

Good morning Mikhail,

Thank you for reaching out to Ask an Islander. There are so many great restaurants in Charlottetown that serve seafood that it would be impossible to recommend only one!

One of the wonderful characteristics of Charlottetown is how pedestrian-friendly the historic downtown area innately is. The Confederation Centre of the Arts is a great landmark and is closely situated to many eateries. If you are looking for a more formal, dine-in experience, The Claddagh Oyster House is ideal. Be sure to sample the wide selection of oysters, steamed mussels and quahogs. Their Jerk Crab Legs are A MUST.

If you're looking for a lively patio experience, Sea Rocket is located on the pedestrian street called Victoria Row. This spot is a wonderful option to have your seafood cravings satisfied. Order some oysters and you've already got some of the best of PEI ingredients right in front of you! Sea Rocket also has a patio which can be a wonderful spot to enjoy our world famous sunsets, and perhaps a seacuterie board, an oyster po boy or Tuna Katsu.

Sims Steakhouse & Oyster Bar has a wide array of upscale seafood dishes like bronzed scallops, mussels, seafood and bruschetta; their seafood chowder is award-winning!  Sims Steakhouse and Oyster Bar also has a great oyster program and certainly pulls all the stops for an incredible oyster degustation including caviar add ons!

I invite you to download or order our 2024 visitor’s guide. You can always stay in touch by signing up for the Tourism PEI newsletter which includes details on upcoming festivals and events and recipes too!

Have a wonderful summer vacation!
