When is lobster season? Is it available in September?

Answer by:

Hello Beth,

Thank you for your question to Ask and Islander.

In 2025, the lobster fishing season on Prince Edward Island (PEI) will have two distinct periods: a spring season from early May to the end of June, and a fall season from mid-August to mid-October. The exact start dates may vary slightly depending on weather and fishing conditions.

You can purchase lobster all year long. Lobster fishers catch enough during the spring season to last through the summer and into the fall season, and they store live lobsters in state-of-the-art saltwater tanks during this time.

Enjoy,

Erin Davis

Asked: I will be visiting Souris in early July 2024. I would love to take in a traditional lobster boil ( if that’s the correct wording , with the potatoes and corn and sea food ). Is there a local area known for offering this?
