When is the best time for fresh lobster?

Good morning Brian:
Thank you for your inquiry to Ask an Islander. The best time for fresh lobster in PEI is around the time that it is freshly caught during spring, summer and early fall. Each season, live lobster is stored in state-of-the-art salt water tanks. Storing lobster this way in cool sea water helps preserve the tender, delicious, fresh-from-the-ocean flavour that PEI Lobster is known for worldwide.
Lobster PEI is a great source for where to buy and eat the world's greatest lobster. If you are looking for a traditional lobster dinner, here are the top spots with prices as of today:
- New Glasgow Lobster Suppers - $47.95 for one-pound including appetizers, salads and dessert
- Fisherman's Wharf, North Rustico - $47.99 for one-pound including 60 ft. salad bar, rolls, mussels, chowder and dessert
- Lobster on the Wharf , Charlottetown - $43 for one-pound lobster with sides
- Brothers Two, Summerside - $56 for one-pound lobster with sides
- Water Prince Corner Shop, Charlottetown - $45.95 for one-pound lobster with sides
- Clam Diggers, Cardigan- $55 for one-pound lobster with sides
All restaurants offer the option to order a larger lobster for additional charge. Sides vary by location.
