Hey Robert!

Thanks for sending this through Ask An Islander!

Best oyster is always a fun question as they really can be quite different so without knowing your preferences - I’ll give you my favorites!

In terms of where to find oysters in restaurants on PEI, you don’t have to look too hard to find them - more often than not, restaurants across the island will serve them. If you’re in Charlottetown, you really can’t beat the experience at either Sims Steakhouse (who have a rotating selection of oysters from around the island) or from Searocket (who source the majority of their oysters from Raspberry Point Oyster Co, who has a few brands of their own).

Outside Charlottetown, Carr’s Oyster House in Stanley Bridge is one of my favorites - mostly for their patio location right on the water.

In terms of oysters to look for, my favorite of all time would be Blackberry Bays - always a great size, very clean and very salty style oyster. I always recommend trying as many varieties as you can handle to see which ones you prefer!

In terms of lighthouses, you’re in no shortage there either. Over 40 of them are easily accessible around the island - one of my favorites for a sunset visit would be either Seacow Head on the south shore or Covehead lighthouse on the north shore. Both easily found using any Maps application.

I invite you to download or order our 2024 visitor’s guide. You can always stay in touch by signing up for the Tourism PEI newsletter which includes details on upcoming festivals and events and recipes too!

Hope that helps!

Thanks,

Al Douglas
