Where can I exchange American money?

Answer by:

Hello Vicki,

Thank you for your question to Ask an Islander.

If you are travelling to the island, by way of the Confederation Bridge, Howatt's Shell is one of the best places to do American cash exchange. A fair exchange and no fees. It is one of the best places for doing this.

Banks are also willing to do this, but some will charge fees or will only do this for customers of the banking group.

Another options for exchanging USD for CAN on PEI are the major banks such as Bank of Montreal, Scotia Bank, CIBC, Toronto Dominion, etc. I am including a link here for Bank Locations on PEI that includes their contact information in case you need to access a particular branch in a specific location.

Kind regards,

Erin Davis
