Where can I get the best oysters in PEI?

Answer by:

Good afternoon Lison,

No matter where you find yourself on Prince Edward Island, you're never far from a place where you can enjoy oysters. In Charlottetown, there are numerous places where you can select oysters from the menu. All you need to think about is what vibe you're looking for.

Looking for a relaxed oyster experience? Head to the floating dock at Peake's Quay that is dotted with food spots including the Shell Shack next to JC’s Tiki Bar. The shell shack offers freshly shucked oysters, chowder, mussels and an amazing crab dip that is not to be missed. The view is fantastic as you're right on the waterfront!

For relaxed elegance, Sea Rocket Oyster House is a great space to enjoy oysters on their patio. In downtown Charlottetown, this is one of the newer restaurants on the block and has a heavy focus on seafood and shellfish. The menu offers both fresh and baked oysters; baked comes three ways- Rockefeller, Miso Aioli and Champagne cream. My favourite is the champagne cream. This is an opportunity to try variations on the classic Rockefeller.

My choice for an upscale oyster and patio combination can be found at Sims Corner. The wine offerings and cocktail menu will keep you hydrated and happy on a luxurious patio that is perfect for people watching.

Have a great visit on our Island as you slurp up oysters along your way!
