Where is a good place to enjoy local music, food in a pub with a ceilidh experience? We'll be staying at a house in Mayfield. We're all family from adult granddaughters, daughters and the grandmother.

Good afternoon Deb;

Thank you for reaching out to Ask an Islander about musical events during your stay. Mayfield is a central location that is close to North Rustico. I don't know of a pub with music in the village, but there is music every Wednesday evening from 6 to 8 pm at the Seawalk Park

A great spot for excellent seafood and music is Fin Folk Food in Grand Tracadie, a beatiful 30-minute drive along the north shore. Local artists play several nights a week from 6:00 to 8:00 pm. Contact: 902-672-4334

Down the road in Stanley Bridge, you'll find concerts by well-known PEI performers most nights of the week. I highly recommend Back Home Tonight on Monday evenings, which is getting rave reviews this summer! For a full schedule, see Ceilidhs and Kitchen Parties. You could plan to have dinner at Carr's Oyster Bar down the road, as there is no food service at the hall. Then, enjoy a dessert of ice cream and strawberries during the show's intermission.

Further afield to the west, Summerside hosts classic car nights on Fridays with a live band, weather permitting. There is an area roped off for dancing to the music hits of the 50s & 60s.

To the east, Charlottetown has a number of pubs with food and music.  The Old Triangle has performers six nights a week and an afternoon gathering on Sundays. Their website has a great gig calendar with performers listed. P.S. Good food too! Another well-known pub is the Olde Dublin Pub with music every night of the week. Here, you'll also find an oyster special daily till 6 pm along with great food and atmosphere.

Check out the Tourism PEI calendar of events and keep your eyes open for event posters in shops, grocery stores, etc. for live music, other concerts, shows and activities. You can also stop by any visitor information centre or talk with a friendly local about what's happening.

Enjoy your stay!
