Where is the best resource for Genealogy research and are there individuals you can contact to set up appointment for one on one research assistance?

Hello from PEI,

Thank you for reaching out to Ask an Islander. The Public Archives in Charlottetown might be a good place to start your research. Some museums across the Island have genealogy sections in them as well.

Prince Edward Island Genealogical Society would be another great resource.

If you know where your ancestors lived, you could reach out to the municipality to see if they have any records or local groups who do this type of thing. For example, The Farmers’ Bank of Rustico Museum has a large collection of genealogical information collected by Theresa Gallant over a number of years, and more recent additions by Clem Gallant. I believe you can make appointments here for searches.

I hope this helps!
