Where near Belle River PEI could we take our kids to see seals?
Hello Lisa,
Thank you for your question to Ask an Islander.
Low tide and in the sun, you can see lots of seals. Seals love sunning themselves. I have gone to Point Prim lighthouse, stopping at Barvela Pizza on the way, take my pizza to the picnic tables by the lighthouse and watched the seals and whales in the water. You have to be patient here because it depends on the fish in the area. More fish swimming around, more likely to see the whale and seals.
Guernsey Cove use to be a favouite spot for the seals. Some night rocks along there.
My absolute favourite spot is Lower Montague, St, Andrew's Point Park. At low tide, the seals are out there sunning themselves and barking up a storm! Where the seals are laying, over 100 years ago, that was a burial site. A great example of how time and erosion has taking our coastline away. You may see eagles, osprey, kingfisher and other birds in this area.
Enjoy!
