where to enjoy shore fishing for mackerel?

Hello Tiger,

Thank you for reaching out to Ask an Islander. From July to October, wharves, breakwaters and piers across the Island are excellent places to fish for mackerel. These fisheries are regulated by the federal Department of Fisheries and Oceans - Recreational Fishery.  All catch and licensing questions should be directed to them.

Please check with the local wharf authority for permission to fish off the wharf and only park in designated areas.

Some popular spots include Souris Wharf, Naufrage Bridge (off the flat bridge), Georgetown, Lower Montague Wharf, and even Charlottetown Harbour.

Happy fishing!

Valerie
