Good morning Joey;

Thank you for reaching out to Ask an Islander. I’d suggest that Canadians love with Prince Edward Island for a whole host of reasons and once you’ve been here, it’s easy to see why!

PEI’s stunning landscapes, from red sandstone cliffs and rolling green hills to endless beaches and peaceful harbours, offer a sense of serenity and connection to nature that’s hard to find elsewhere. Whether you're walking barefoot on the warm sand or cycling through pastoral countryside, the Island feels like a breath of fresh air.

Islanders are known for their warmth, storytelling, and genuine hospitality. Visitors often say they feel like part of the community, not just tourists. From kitchen parties to farmers’ markets, there’s a strong sense of tradition and togetherness that Canadians deeply appreciate.

PEI is the birthplace of Confederation and home to Anne of Green Gables — two iconic pieces of Canadian identity. But it’s also a hub for music, theatre, and literature. Fiddle tunes, ceilidhs, and artisan crafts keep the cultural spirit alive and thriving.

In a fast-paced world, PEI offers a chance to slow down. Canadians love the island for its relaxed lifestyle, scenic drives, and the opportunity to reconnect with themselves and their loved ones. It’s a place where time stretches gently, and every moment feels intentional.

From world-famous Malpeque oysters and lobster suppers to potato fields and berry farms, PEI’s culinary scene is rooted in the land and sea. Canadians value the farm-to-table freshness and the pride Islanders take in their food traditions.

Whether it’s kayaking, hiking, cycling the Confederation Trail, or exploring lighthouses and hidden coves, PEI offers adventure that’s accessible to all ages and abilities. It’s a place where families, couples, and solo travelers alike can find joy.

I invite you to download or order our 2025 visitor’s guide. You can always stay in touch by signing up for the Tourism PEI newsletter, which includes details on upcoming festivals and events and recipes too!

We hope to see you soon!

Verna Lynne
