Good morning Sandra;

Thank you for contacting Ask an Islander. Your question is difficult without more information about your tastes and budget. However, I will do my best to provide you with some options.

In the heart of Cavendish, Avonlea Village offers many dining options, both takeaway and eat-in. I'd recommend Samuel's for coffee and breakfast and/or lunch and the Lone Oak Beer Garden for dinner. I haven't yet visited this Lone Oak establishment, but I'm a regular at their restaurant at 15 Milky Way in Charlottetown. I always enjoy the food and the patio atmosphere with frequent live music.

For a traditional dining experience, the Larkin family at Chez Yvonne has been welcoming customers for over 50 years. The Larkins are proud to serve many Prince Edward Island products, especially turkey from Larkin Farms. The turkey dinner is served every Sunday with all the trimmings, from 11:30 a.m. to closing.

Lobster dinner options include Fisherman's Wharf in North Rustico with the world's longest salad bar or New Glasgow Lobster Suppers for amazing dinner rolls and mile-high lemon meringue pie. The same two families have operated this restaurant for 65 years as of just last week; a testament to fresh, local cuisine and great service.

Last summer, I stopped at Route 6 Fish & Chips for fried clams for the first time. The best clams I've ever had served with fresh-cut fries.

If you haven't done so already, download our 2023 visitor’s guide or pick up a hard copy when you arrive at the airport or any Visitor Information Centre. You can always stay in touch by signing up for the Tourism PEI newsletter which includes details on upcoming festivals and events and recipes too!

Have a fabulous vacation! Thank you for choosing Prince Edward Island.
